Judge Ramirez served as a federal
District Court judge, Eastern District of California; Appellate
Judge, by appointment, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals (1980-1990);
Municipal/Superior Court Judge, Sacramento County, California (1977-1980).
EXPERIENCE AND SPECIALTIES
After retiring from the federal bench, Judge
Ramirez practiced law as a Senior Litigation partner at Orrick,
Herrington & Sutcliffe in Sacramento, and also specialized in
dispute resolution with a primary focus on complex business and
commercial litigation, employment (wrongful termination, sex, race,
age, handicap discrimination) personal injury, insurance coverage,
environmental and class action disputes. In 1996, he left Orrick,
Herrington to work full time as a neutral. He presided over 3,000
jury trials, settlement conferences and/or mediations representing
clients in areas of tort litigation in State and Federal court.
